VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are no paid positions within the Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers organization. Our success is due to our various race sponsors and the efforts of our volunteers. Everything from weekend water duty to race aid stations, trail clean-ups, social events to the club-produced races are due to the club members who have stepped up to volunteer.

There are many ways to give back to the sport. Whether it be a monetary donation to support the running community or by providing your time and talents to the club.

Throughout the year there are many events that need volunteer support. The success of these events is due to the many volunteers who help out. The club-sponsored races need help with set up and take down, registration, parking and at the aid stations.

WATER DUTY VOLUNTEER

Water and Gatorade are set-up in two locations on the west course during the weekend runs and at the clubhouse. The jugs should be in place on the course by 7:00 AM and should remain there until at least 9:00 AM. You can do water duty solo or work in tandem with someone, one member puts out the jugs and the other picks them up.

Become a Hydration Hero! It's easy and fun! All you have to do is volunteer for weekend water duty. Simply put out water and Gatorade on the course on Saturday/Sunday mornings. Sign up on the whiteboard located in the clubhouse on the back door. Review water duty instructions or watch the instructional video below. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator for more information.

Each quarter one lucky volunteer will receive a $50 Amazon gift card. An entry ticket to the drawing will be given for each time someone volunteers. The more you volunteer, the better your chances. You don't need to be present to win.

If you have any questions, contact the Volunteer Coordinator.

RAW INFORMATION BOOTH

Throughout the year, RAW sets up an information booth at local events to promote the Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers club. Many of our members were once a little shy about joining a running club until they had an opportunity to talk with real members. It’s important for us to put faces and stories behind what being a part of RAW means. Let’s face it, joining an established running group can be intimidating, regardless of your running or walking ability. By getting out to local events, we can show other people that RAW is made up of wonderful people just like them.

RACE AID STATIONS

Being a running club in a large metropolitan area provides many opportunities to help at races, including a major marathon every December. The Dallas Marathon is a great event to run, cheer and volunteer at. Each December, RAW “gives back to the sport” by volunteering at an aid station on the race course. It’s both fun and rewarding to help our sport at such a large race. RAW volunteers at other races throughout the year, as well.
